IR35 and s660A Advice

Employed or Self Employed? - that is the question...

If you are a freelance worker working through a company or partnership, you may be at risk of an attack from HM Revenue & Customs ("HMRC") under the now notorious IR35 and s660A provisions.

Vigar & Co LLP understands why the IR35 rules were introduced, but we also believe that HMRC are applying the rules in a draconian fashion - you only have to look at the recent case law to see that the courts think so too.

Vigar & Co LLP can advise you on how to manage your risk before it happens or help you deal with queries from the HMRC that you may have already had.

We don't condone tax evasion or hoodwinking HMRC, but we do believe that genuine freelance workers should not be penalised. If we think your current arrangements are caught by IR35/s660A we will tell you!

If are worried that you might be caught by IR35/s660A or would like more information about how we can help you, contact us at IR35@vigarandco.com.

In 2006 Vigar & Co LLP became one of the very first four firms in the country to receive the PCG Quality Assured Accountant accreditation.

"With HMRC continuing to challenge contractors’ status, I welcome PCG’s move to set up an accredited accountant scheme. Contractors will know the advice they are getting is from a specialist in the area. Having been a contractor myself, I am fully aware of the pressures of contracting and know that the last thing needed is the additional worry of dealing with the taxman."
